(Update) Changing Things Up
Some things are changing around here, there's a new sheriff in town!
Hello friends.
You may or may not have noticed, but for the last two days, I have not posted on this substack for two days.
And this concludes my 117-day streak of posting every single day.
*Wah Wah Wahhh.*
To be honest, the first day I genuinely just forgot, I had a busy day moving into my new building and getting dinner with a friend along with a spontaneous date.
When I realized I had broken my 117-day streak (honestly I’m surprised I made it that long) of posting every single day, I decided I would take an extra day to think about what I wanted to do with this here collection of my thoughts, ideas, and musings.
After much pontification (great word, huh?) yesterday, I came to the conclusion that I’d like to change things up a little bit.
Writing these long ass essays every single day was a great test of willpower and I’m very happy to have had some of you along for the journey…
But it was complete and total overkill.
I write for a living and I only have so much writing “juice” every single day, and to have to use that continuously on these posts has drained my business quite a bit.
In fact, when I look at my income statements from the day I started this blog, my income actually went down, which isn’t a shocker…
It takes time to think about what the hell I’m going to write about, let alone write this shit out and edit it.
And also, when I look back at those 117 posts, there are maybe 10-15 of them that I genuinely thought were super high quality, it felt like the rest were all kind of low quality.
I appreciate the people that supported them and loved them, but I have a very high standard for my writing and I don’t like the idea of continuing to pump out “mid” work just to hit a win streak so I could one day be like “yeah I wrote 965 blog posts in a row.”
Seems kind of pointless to me the more I’ve reflected on it.
So here’s what to expect from this substack going forward…
You’ll notice I’ve gone ahead and changed it from Man Of Meaning to just my name Nicholas Verge, I would prefer to focus on my personal branding than that brand by itself.
I will be emailing you less frequently without a set schedule, I would rather the emails come from inspiration and excitement to share something (that’s where my best work comes from) rather than forced consistency.
The quality of the articles is going to be increased significantly because I’d like to focus an increased amount of time on honing in what I write.
Looking forward to continuing to grow with you my friends.
All the best.
